LAUREN HAUGHTON GILLIS

LAUREN HAUGHTON GILLIS (BFA, MFA, AEA, SAG-AFTRA) has produced, directed, and choreographed shows for Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS across the country with the Broadway National Tours of Hamilton, Wicked, Beautiful: The Carol King Musical, and The Book of Mormon, and featuring stars such as Jennifer Holliday. Director/Choreographer: PDA at the La Jolla Playhouse (Associate Director), She Loves Me at San Diego Musical Theatre (Choreographer), The Magic Hummingbird at San Diego State University Opera (Director/Choreographer), Peter/Wendy and Rose and the Rime at Northwestern University (Director), Pickwick’s Haunted Christmas at Ripley Grier, NYC (Assistant Director), Hedwig and the Angry Inch at Diversionary Theatre (Assistant Director), Crazy for You at San Diego Musical Theatre (Assistant Choreographer), and James and the Giant Peach at San Diego State University Theatre (Assistant Director/Choreographer). She was the choreographer for the 2019 Broadway in San Diego Awards (pre-qualifier for the Jimmy Awards). Lauren has served on faculty at San Diego State University and the Northwestern University National High School Institute Cherub Program as a director, choreographer, and musical theatre teaching artist. She has taught master classes at the University of Michigan, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Carnegie Mellon University, Baldwin Wallace University, Syracuse University, and Temple University. Lauren appeared on Broadway and on the National Tour of Wicked as a swing and Nessarose understudy and Off-Broadway in Fools in Love. She was in the original casts of: Turn of the Century with Tommy Tune at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Sammy at The Old Globe in San Diego, Hans Christian Anderson with Maury Yeston at Maine State Music Theatre, and ‘Til Death Do Us Part at San Diego State University. She appeared in Annie on Encore! (Disney+) directed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge and choreographed by Melinda Sullivan. Lauren recently finished a fellowship at the La Jolla Playhouse on their production of Fly. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University and an MFA in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University.
